I bought my Z when I lived there, so I am fairly familiar with Missouri cops and tickets... =) Unless it has been changed in the last couple of years - Missouri law allows you to petition the court to have your traffic ticket amended to a non-moving violation (with a much bigger fine, of course). I have a couple of tickets from college for "Excessive Vehicle Noise" (i.e. no mufflers) and things like that. What you'll need to do is check your ticket and find out out exactly who wrote you up (City of Pevely, St. Louis County, whatever...) and then check the phone book for a traffic lawyer from that area. They usually have ads plastered all over the yellow pages. It'll cost you, but you should be able to avoid the points. Good luck,
